evolution
The suite features a double bamboo bed handmade on-site by our team with material harvested from the surrounding farm and covered with a mosquito net
En-suite toilet - outdoor shower
This house was built with the eco-conscious traveller in mind, but our most economical option still doesn’t lack basic comforts like ceiling fans, desk space, books and a flush toilet. A jungle delight!
Local detail
The ceiling is insulated with bamboo; the indoor bathroom is hand-built from local wood; the separate shower room is built from woven palms. We don’t need or use air-con here. The houses have been designed to accentuate air-flow and create breezes to keep fresh in the tropics.
Comfort
The main room of the suite proudly began featuring all-natural walls and floor by Casa de Tierra, a sustainable building project based in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua.
The cob floor was mixed & molded by hand and finished with a natural clay-based paint and linseed oil. Hosting guests for 8 year’s took it’s toll and the erosion of these natural plasters and finishes gave us a glimpse at the layers of materials that make up the structure.
The floors tiles we have switched to were hand-made in Granada by Casa Favilli.
Optional eco-toilet
There is one indoor-flush toilet for those of you who like modern comforts in addition to the well-maintained compost-toilet in the palm building outside, for those who like to save water.
The hot-water shower is in the palm building. This bathroom is private.
“My wife and I absolutely loved the place. It could hardly be better: Excellent location, beautifully built (everything is thought of), the bathroom and shower are just perfect, excellent host and organization, very good breakfast in the middle of the forest, wildlife, adventure, near but not too close to the “village”.... We definitely recommend!”

We have a range of houses and cabins open to guests on the 2 acre permaculture farm, which are rated as some of the best places to stay on Ometepe. They are built using natural, local and sustainable materials, while also not being impractical; crafted by local tradesmen and filled with local art. Located at the base of a dormant volcano in the middle of the largest lake in Central America, this is the destination to be. The Selvista experience is the best way to experience ometepe island.
